Once you’ve fixed the problem, even when you power the Mac down and switch off the controller, you shouldn’t need to go through the process again. If it doesn’t work for you, unpair the controller in the Mac’s Bluetooth settings, go back to step 1 and try again.

This is the driver suggested by the developer of Rewired (The input system for iMASSAGE) to get Xbox controllers working on Mac. This driver is not made by me so I can offer no support on this driver other than this guide.

Press the buttons on your controller or waggle the joysticks and (hopefully) you should see the relevant button/joystick highlighted on the page, as shown below:Īmazingly, and for reasons I can’t really explain, this seemed to fix the mapping issues with my Xbox controller. To get Xbox controllers working on Mac the only thing you need to do is download and install a driver from GitHub.Now click the Bluetooth symbol in the Mac menu bar, select Bluetooth Preferences and hopefully your controller should appear in the list. To do this, turn the controller on and press the pairing button on the top of the controller, the same one you’d use to pair it with the Xbox console. Pair the controller to your Mac via Bluetooth. Here, then, is the solution that worked for me: I was highly sceptical that it would do anything when I read the suggestion on the Apple forums, but it worked for me. The same happened when I connected via USB cable.Ĭould I find a solution? Could I hell. The A button was mapped to B, for example, and other control were out of whack. They would pair via Bluetooth, no problem, but buttons weren’t mapped properly. Note that Controlly is not specifically designed for gaming it’s more a way of mapping a controller to remote control your Mac. My Xbox controllers (both for Xbox One and Xbox Series X) refused to work properly with my Mac.

I’m hoping to do this in the future, where possible. This is one of those problems that has been bugging me for ages. Adding official support requires the appropriate devkit access and licensing. Some users have integrated InControl with the Unity console SDKs on their own, however.

This means console specific controller functions like rumble and light control is not supported, but basic input is. Note: InControl currently does not include direct SDK support for the major consoles, although it does work with many (see the list above) by piggybacking on Unity’s built-in input support. Please feel free to submit profiles for any controller/platform not currently in the list, but do ensure it correctly supports all the standardized controls. Note: New device profiles are really simple to create. Gaming-on-the-go is the new phenomenon taking the entertainment community by storm - however, many gamers struggle to navigate games effectively using just their Mac controls.
